Sometimes we do things in a certain way simply out of habit, such as how we assign homework, grade papers, or conduct discussions. But breaking those habits is necessary to advance our teaching practices and change our systems to meet the needs of every learner. To break our tried-and-true practices, we must unlearn. Unlearning can be uncomfortable, as we experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this discomfort is necessary for growth. This talk will explore how the Unlearning Cycle supports UDL implementation, so educators can transform outdated beliefs, assumptions, and teaching practices to empower and engage every learner.

Thank you, Allison….that was inspiring!
Thank you for sharing wonderful information on unlearning.
Allison,
My intention today was not to cry or get choked up… but that didn’t last long. Your message was so powerful that it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for providing another great connection to why Unlearning is needed, why UDL is needed, and why we need to be advocates for it all! If I could bottle up that story and emotion to share with others I would. There are so many that need to hear about UDL and your message has the power to resonate with such a broad audience.
Bravo lady! ~Cherie
