UDL Math: Integrating Best Practices in Mathematics Education with UDL

Thursday, March 31st, 10:30-11:30am ET

UDL presents a vision of classrooms without barriers, but how do we put this vision into practice in math classrooms? UDL Math is a framework and design process created by mathematics and UDL educator Dr. Rachel Lambert to align UDL principles with best practices in mathematics education. UDL Math centers student development in strategic sense-making within a curriculum focused on problem-solving, not memorization. To make UDL work in math classrooms, we must pay particular attention to socio-emotional engagement, connections across multiple mathematical representations, and student development of strategic action during problem solving.

“Access without empathy is a design fail!” Wow! So much to unpack here! Wish I could have attended live. Thank you for sharing this incredible work!
