UDL Implementation Policies in Higher Education – How Does Our Negligence Affect Our Students?

Friday, April 1st, 1:00-2:00pm ET

National and/or institutional policies regarding UDL in higher education are often influenced by their social, economic, cultural, historic, and political contexts, with the result that some aspects of UDL are addressed more explicitly, whilst others do not receive any awareness at all. Unawareness of overlooked indicators can lead to an unintended marginalization of parts of the student population. In our breakout session, participants will examine and discuss an institutional policy or resource (either their own or one provided by the presenters) and identify the policy/resource’s reference to UDL, inclusion, and diversity, as well as discuss strategies for a more comprehensive approach to UDL implementation and/or professional training.
