UDL Implementation in Higher Education – Students as Partners in a Real Bottom-up Approach?

Thursday, March 31st, 1:15-2:15pm ET

Since 2015, educational developers at NTNU have tried out various training offers to increase the faculties’ implementation of UDL in their teaching practices. In 2020, a new interdisciplinary course was developed as a bottom-up approach, where master’s students identify areas where UDL needs to be strengthened and suggest strategies based on knowledge from their academic disciplines. In this session, participants will discuss advantages and challenges with this approach, such as the focus of the UDL implementation (students’ vs. teachers’ eyes), the feasibility of the students’ suggested strategies (investment vs. resources) and their potential impact on the student population (outcomes vs. priorities).
