Teacher Educator’s Knowledge and Use of UDL

The purpose of this presentation is to share results of a statewide survey examining the current instruction and use of UDL in teacher education programs in a southern state.  This survey was completed by 35 faculty in teacher education programs (K-12 Gen Ed/SPED).  The survey explored faculty’s current understanding of UDL, application of UDL in their own course design, and required inclusion/implementation of UDL in teacher candidate work.  Conducted in partnership with the State Department of Education, projected uses of this study were to identify any needs for additional professional development for faculty across the state as well as to inform state department guidelines for the inclusion of UDL in teacher education programs.
