How do you develop the six characteristics of an expert learner in the classroom? Do your students have the opportunity to develop these characteristics? How do we let go of some of the power as educators to teach our students how to learn as well as what to learn? Let’s stop giving our students fish, so that they can only eat for one day. Let’s teach them to fish, so that they can eat for life. Providing the appropriate tools and giving instruction on how to effectively use those tools can disrupt the education status quo and idea that teachers are keepers of all knowledge.
