Friday, April 1st, 3:15-4:15pm ET
Postsecondary institutions, academic departments, and other campus units nationwide are undertaking diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. However, many, if not most, of these efforts do not consider the needs of students with disabilities, even those who are members of marginalized groups to which these efforts are targeted. In this session, participants will learn about how students with disabilities are marginalized in postsecondary education and that most students with disabilities do not disclose them. They will explore how established principles, guidelines, and evidence-based practices, when applied as part of a UDL Framework, can provide a foundation for any DEI initiative.
